realxing meditation, focus, easy meditation

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_video src=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0680YrVdTo”][vc_column_text]Who doesn’t love chocolate? Ok if you don’t I am sorry, no really, I am truly sorry for you. You can try this meditation however with any little treat that might otherwise have you gobbling it down in seconds flat if you popped it in your mouth on a normal day. This is a great little meditation to pull out anywhere to calm your nerves or just get in a quick mediation practice. It can even be practiced right at your desk at work. You and your boss will be all the happier when you are more focused after and have a satisfied little smile on your face. You can both read over this passage and do your own version in your mind quietly or if you are able to use the little sound bit meditation at your desk. Enjoy, relax, and just take a moment to let your day melt away.

Until next time, enjoy the good life,

  • To start this meditation simply find a quite spot, sit up straight, close your eyes, with a piece of chocolate awaiting in your hand.
  • Bring the chocolate up to your nose and smell. Inhale the aroma. Let it sweep over you. What do you smell? Notice if this smell invokes feelings, memories or are you back off into the list of thing you need to do today rattling off in your head. If in pleasant memory take a moment to smile at that moment. Then wherever your thoughts are come back to the present moment and only focus on the sensation of the object before you. Smell the aroma again, take a moment to inwardly look for other bodily reactions to this object, are other senses besides smell activated, if so how?
  • Pop it in your mouth. See if it’s possible to hold it on your tongue without swallowing or chewing, noticing any tendency to suck at it. This tasty treat has over 300 flavors within it; see if you can sense some of them. What is going through your mind, do you really feel the urge to shallow? Is your mouth salivating?
  • If you notice your mind wandering while you do this, simply notice where it went, then gently escort it back to the present moment.
  • After this decadent morsel has completely melted, swallow it very slowly and deliberately. Let it trickle down your throat. Be fully aware of all of your senses.

How do you feel? Is it different from normal? Did the chocolate taste better than if you’d just eaten it at a normal breakneck pace? Do you feel fuller than normal, more satisfied? This is a simple and delicious way to help train the mind to focus for more advanced meditation practices.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
