This terrific recipe was inspired by the upcoming Father’s Day, along with it’s Men’s Spa Kit buddies, Whiskey Sour Shaving Cream, Margarita Men’s Shaving Splash, and Martini Salt Scrub. This recipe actually has it’s drink named alcohol, brandy, as an ingredient. You might be saying what! Has Amanda Jean finely lost it? Well, not really, but seriously, alcohol is much better for your body on the outside then on the inside! Research has actually proven this, and many expensive specialty spa products actually use it in their sought after products.
Enjoy this recipe or mix some up for your honey. 😉 Do you know a good alcohol inspired spa product? Share with us below!
Until next time, enjoy the good life,

Ingredients
- Coffee (I had this on hand but I would use organic if I did this again).
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Cinnamon Sticks (6 sticks, cut to make 12)
- Brandy (I just used the cheapest I could find)
- One orange for zest
- Pour and melt soap (I bought this at Micheals but you can get organic and all natural online, I needed clear and in a short time period).
- Lemon Therapy Grade Essential Oil
- Clove Therapy Grade Essential Oil
The Process
[vc_single_image image=”837″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Use craft scissors to cut open one side of the recycled box, it must be a box that still is pliable with soap in it, so no glass! Do this on the side that does not have the pour spout.
[vc_single_image image=”838″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Cut around all edges of the side, it will look like this.
[vc_single_image image=”839″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Zest Orange.[/vc_column_text]
[vc_single_image image=”840″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Zest should look like this.
[vc_single_image image=”846″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Split zest into two bowls, with 1/4 cup approximately in in each bowl.
[vc_single_image image=”841″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Cut cinnamon sticks in half with kitchen scissors.
[vc_single_image image=”842″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Measure out 1 oz of brandy.
[vc_single_image image=”847″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour into small bowl, repeat once, so you have to 1 oz brandy shots in separate bowls. These are for the coffee and orange layers of your soap.
[vc_single_image image=”850″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Measure 2 oz of brandy.
[vc_single_image image=”851″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Put in 20 drops of lemon therapy grade essential oil to 2 oz of brandy.
[vc_single_image image=”852″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Put in 10 drops of clove therapy grade essential oil to brandy.
[vc_single_image image=”847″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”][/vc_column]
Put mixture into bowl and set aside for brandy layer. Then make one more of these and set aside for the last brandy layer as well.
[vc_single_image image=”954″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Measure out 2 tbs of coffee set aside.
[vc_single_image image=”857″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Use scissors or craft knife to cut apart 2 pound glycerin soap block into cubes, into four even piles.
[vc_single_image image=”858″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Use first 1/2 pound soap cube pile and place into glass microwavable measuring cup. Follow the directions on your soap box, Micheals brand was to microwave on high for 30 seconds, followed by 10 second intervals till melted.
[vc_single_image image=”860″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Stir with whisk to make sure all lumps blended to liquid.
[vc_single_image image=”861″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour in First 1/4 orange zest into melted soap.
[vc_single_image image=”862″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Stir thoroughly.
[vc_single_image image=”863″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour in first layer soap to recycled box.
[vc_single_image image=”896″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Spray first layer with rubbing alcohol to burst any bubbles.
[vc_single_image image=”864″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Place out cinnamon sticks where you think you would like them to sit.
[vc_single_image image=”897″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
When soap is half way cooled for next layer an approximate 15 minutes, the soap will have made a thin layer of skin which you will gently push cinnamon sticks through on one side of the box all the way down, you may need to hold them for a few seconds in place as they go in till they can stand on their own. Then wait another approximately 15 minutes till soap appears to not move or wave when you gently tilt or blow on the surface.
[vc_single_image image=”898″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
This is general spacing if you look you see this creates a swirl in soap around sticks, this will not effects your next layers just make sure this layer dries till thick. If you see bubbles try rubbing alcohol first and spray, if this does not work gently use tooth pick to pop then spray again.
[vc_single_image image=”865″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Prep next layer melt soap and pour in a 2 oz brandy and essential oil mixture.
[vc_single_image image=”866″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Whisk thoroughly.
[vc_single_image image=”867″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour layer into box, on opposite side of cinnamon sticks so that it will only coat the cinnamon sticks on the appropriate layer. Then Spray with rubbing alcohol for bubbles.
[vc_single_image image=”868″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Place your other cinnamon sticks. Follow the same directions for previous layer with cinnamon sticks. Wait about 15 minutes then see if cinnamon stick will hold. When placing this layer as you push down you will feel the top of the first layer as you press down through second layer do not push through this layer. Place all cinnamon sticks then wait at least 15 minutes more. I suggest waiting a bit longer maybe 25 because this is where we made a mistake rushing this layer, we did at 15 more and although it looks set, the heavy coffee layer got through the other layers. and mixed instead of staying in it’s layer, I will show the mistake soap, do worry if this happens it still makes a beautiful soap.
[vc_single_image image=”869″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour coffee into last 1 oz brandy.
[vc_single_image image=”870″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Mix thoroughly.
[vc_single_image image=”871″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Pour into box on short cinnamon sticks side. Spray for bubbles.
[vc_single_image image=”872″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Once last layer is dry at least 25 to 35 minutes, again I aired on the longer safe time to keep layers separate, pour last 2 oz brandy essential oil mixture into a melted 1/2 pound of soap. Mix thoroughly. Pour into box this may or may not cover the tops of the remaining cinnamon, not worries if it doesn’t it looks beautiful either way. Remember this is a natural organic feel of a soap no worries. Spray for bubbles.
[vc_single_image image=”873″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Once the last layer dried I took slivers of the brandy and orange from the bars leftovers on the first soap I did where the layers bled together and re melted them, I then pour on a thin top layer to my soap and sprinkle the last remaining orange zest.
[vc_single_image image=”900″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
If you do not have extra soap you can add this right after you pour the last layer just sprinkle softly as to not break through layer all the way.
[vc_single_image image=”876″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Set over night to dry. Do Not Put In Fridge. The next day start by squeezing the box gently.
[vc_single_image image=”901″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Following a gentle squeeze take a knife and gentle clean out edge where soap is attached to spout, if box has one.
[vc_single_image image=”877″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Next gently pull out the edges.
[vc_single_image image=”878″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Then turn upside down and press along the bottom to release soap.
[vc_single_image image=”879″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Slide soap out of box.
[vc_single_image image=”880″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Now you have a block of soap.
[vc_single_image image=”882″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Use soap slicer to cut off edge first thinly. I liked this crinkle cutter.
[vc_single_image image=”881″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Then moving around cinnamon sticks make your cuts for bars, in similar sizes.
[vc_single_image image=”883″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Keep slicing till you have all bars done don’t forget to get the end of the last bar in a thin cut.
[vc_single_image image=”884″ border_color=”white” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_outline”]
Enjoy!
