- Cut out sugar
- Cut out wheat
- Cut out corn
- Cut out rice
That’s a lot of cutting for most of us I realize this. But the reasons for the cutting may have you tossing that bagel you were about to eat. Did you know that all of the product above would easily spike your blood sugar? Ok, so you get a sugar high so what, right? Wrong. Spikes in blood sugar lead to severe consequences like, heart disease and diabetes, not to mention the extra visceral fat that will begin to decorate your middle. Yes that is correct, heart failure and getting fatter are not to be blamed on extra fats in your diet like once believed but because of ‘bad carbs’ like these. - Limit alcohol
While it is understandable to want to partake in the occasional adult beverage, be aware of the side effects of alcohol consummation. Not to mention, most are made from the fermentation of those unhealthy carbs. The exception is wine. So this is the best choice if you choose to partake.
- Juice
This does not imply that you should open you fridge and crack open a carton of OJ and chug it. Concentrated juices are just as bad as swallowing table sugar. The fruit has lost the healthy nutrients that help it digest properly like fiber. When having a real juice, by taking real fruit and vegetables and using your home juicer, you keep the nutrients intake and let’s not forget we added those wonderful things called vegetables. Juicing is one of the fastest ways to get nutrients right into the blood stream as well as ingesting more vegetable than you could ever really digest in a day’s time. Juicing is a great way to Detox as well, even on a simple three days or nightly twelve hour fast (don’t eat past 6pm till 6am in the morning, only juice).
- Eat more vegetables
Duh! Do I really need to explain this one?
- Watch meat portions
While meat has very important nutrients and fats that our body needs, your plate should always consist of more vegetables than anything.
- Cut back dairy
While there are many good nutrients in milk products, there is also more chance for intolerances and most people do get intestinal discomfort with too much dairy.
- Drink less Caffeine
Ever missed your daily dose of morning coffee and been left feeling jittery, and had a major headache by the end of the day? Then you can guess that caffeine is a majorly addictive substance, similar to sugar and as well as a diuretic.
- Cut out all chemical sweeteners
Were you thinking earlier well if I can’t eat sugar then I would substitute it out with Equal or Sweet ‘n Low. Well, think again. These are worse, the laundry list of damage these bad boys do is sickening, even probable cause of cancers.
- Watch oils, use only olive, coconut, walnut, and avocado
Not all oils are created equal this is when we can get into bad fats, not mention fall back into our first no no’s, canola (corn) oil anyone?
- Cut out all packaged processed foods
This again is a no brainer; due to the previous list headers. Most packaged foods, contain one or more of these things, sucrose (or some form off sugar), wheat, any other type of seed of grass, GMO and/or chemical concoctions to make things taste better and sell better because of their addicting substances.
- Eat Organics
Pesticides and GMO free, delicious!
- Eat only grass fed beef
Cows are supposed to eat the stuff not us! Make sure they aren’t being fed corn and other grains they don’t eat, normally to fatten them up for our consumption. Healthy cows are healthy eats. Also be sure that your sources for meats raise their animals humanly.
- If eating processed meats like, bacon, sausage, hotdogs, eat only nitrate free, uncured.
Research found that nitrite, made from nitrates combining with bacteria on meats that had been cured cause gastrointestinal cancers and heart disease. The EWG felt so moved that they even placed it on their dirty dozen list.
Plus a couple bonuses:
- Drink more water
Besides the obvious reasons to drink lots of water, because of our bodily design, there is also the reason to drink water to replace all of those highly sugared drinks. Yes, even your sport drinks are loaded with sugars. Don’t even think of changing that coke to diet, remember those chemical sweeteners? Well, here is a doozy for you, what do the ingredients caffeine and aspartame do when mixed chemically? They kill brain cells, ever noticed that little buzz you get from a diet coke? Another one bites the dust.
- Eat only organic, vegetarian fed, cage free, no hormone eggs.
Again back to being humane and eating something that is healthy itself and not feeding you more hormones.
